Violinist, Composer
Viotti studied violin with Pugnani, a line going directly back through Somis to Corelli. Viotti toured extensively, including participation in major concert events organized by people like Cherubini in Paris and Salomon in London. Brahms purportedly admired Viotti's violin concerto writing, and Viotti's works were the likely model for Beethoven's great violin concerto of 1806. Viotti's students include Rode, Cartier, Duranowski (Durand), F. W. Pixis, Paul Alday, Libon and Robberechts. Viotti is considered the originated of the quatuor brillant or soloist quartet.

Taught by Cazzati, Giovanni Battista Vitali played an instrument variously referred to as a 'violincino' or as a 'violone de brazzo'. With Laurenti, Vitali was a founding member in the Academia Filarmonica of Bologna, playing an important role in the development of instrumental music.
Giovanni Battista Vitali was father to the violinist, Tomaso Antonio Vitali.

The Red Priest
Dubbed 'The Red Priest', Vivaldi and his glorious music were well known throughout Europe, together with his intriguing all female performers, able and chastely hidden behind the wooden screens of Venice's Pia Ospedale della Pietà, a sort of school for foster girls. Vivaldi's widely distributed publication of Concerti in 1711, "L'estro Armonico" influenced many, including Bach and Handel.

Voirin made bows with a rounded cross section, starting from the Peccatte model, Voirin increased the curve toward the tip and made a new and more delicate head shape. Lamy and Sartory followed Voirin's model.
