Great Soviet virtuoso
David Oistrakh studied violin with Piotr Stoliarsky in Odessa. Oistrakh's students include his son Igor and Gidon Kremer.
David Oistrakh transcended international political boundaries, achieving world wide acclaim while working within the soviet system. Always a champion of new music, Oistrakh received countless dedications and premiered many works including both the Shostakovich concertos.

Ondricek studied violin with Bennewitz and Massart. Ondricek premiered the Dvorak Violin Concerto.
